Rebates will be paid for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year with a review after 6 sessions.

Workers Compensation and Third Party Insurance Claims

If you have a Compulsory Third Party or Workers’ Compensation claim, I may be able to bill the insurance company directly. Please contact me for further information.

What will happen in the first session?

I understand that talking to a new person about your difficulties and distress can provoke anxiety so I will try to put you at ease in our first appointment. (Let me assure you that whatever is discussed will be held in the strictest confidence and will not be discussed with any third party without your written permission). This appointment is usually 1 1/2 hours long and involves a comprehensive assessment of your current life situation and the factors that have influenced the development of the difficulties for which you are seeking assistance. It will also involve a discussion of your goals for treatment. Depending on your particular problems, you may also be asked to complete some questionnaires that will provide extra information regarding the best approach to your couselling/therapy. The importance of a comprehensive assessment cannot be overemphasised. Just as you would like your GP not to commence treatment without first asking you about the symptoms and your health history, so too it is appropriate for your psychologist to ask questions in order to gain an appropriate level of understanding. The assessment assists in the formulation of the treatment plan which will be most helpful for you.

How many sessions will I require?

Subsequent sessions are 60 minutes long. The number of sessions required depends on several factors, including the complexity, nature and duration of your difficulties. Your goals for treatment and your level of participation in proposed tasks outside of sessions also influence required number of consultations. Typically people require between 5 and 15 sessions, but a simple issue may take only a couple of sessions and complex issues may require more.

In the initial sessions we will develop a flexible treatment plan with which you are at ease. Initally the sessions my be weekly or fortnightly as appropriate. However the frequency of sessions will be according your your needs but will normally decreases over the course of treatment.
